Sir Keith Park in BR Service

Built at Brighton Works in 1947, and allocated to Salisbury MPD, 34053 spent a considerable amount of time on loan to Stewarts Lane depot, where she was recorded hauling the heavy Continental boat expresses, including the Golden Arrow on many occasions. Following brief spells at Nine Elms and Exmouth Junction, she returned to Salisbury in 1951 working over the entire South Western network.

In November 1958 she was rebuilt and her air smoothed casing was removed, and once again she was returned to Salisbury MPD. A final transfer in 1960 saw her operating out of Bournemouth depot and many times she traversed the Somerset & Dorset at the head of the Pines Express.

With just over a year to go before withdrawal, Sir Keith Park passes Vauxhall with a Basingstoke Train in May 1964 - Mike Esau.

She was withdrawn in October 1965 and towed to Barry Scrapyard in South Wales the following March where she somehow survived the cutters torch for a further 20 years.
